  • CoVid-19 Vaccination Site at GWL MS on 10/12

    Next week, the Orange County Department of Health is hosting a CoVid-19 vaccination clinic (Pfizer) at Greenwood Lake Middle School on October 12th from 2:30 - 5:30 pm. This clinic is open to any individual over the age of 12, including our high school students and community members who wish to receive the vaccine. The second dose will be offered at the Middle School on Wednesday, Nov 3rd during the same hours. READ MORE

    Today, the District learned that two Middle School students tested positive for COVID-19 based on diagnostic tests. One individual was not present in our schools during their contagious period, so contact tracing / identification of first contacts was not deemed necessary. For the other individual, contract tracing has already been performed and individuals notified. PLEASE NOTE: The cases at the Middle School over the past week are not widespread throughout the building, but also importantly, they DO NOT all have the same school connections (i.e. bus, class, cafeteria, etc).     This evening, the District learned that a Middle School student tested positive for COVID-19 based on a diagnostic test. Based on the timeline, the individual was not in contact with any students or staff during the 48-hour window prior to their test. Therefore, based on DOH guidelines, we do not believe contract tracing is necessary. If, after the family interviews with the Health Department, the timeline changes, we will reach out to potential first contacts accordingly.   • Early Dismissal Today, Wednesday, September 15th

    This is message is a test of our Emergency Broadcast Systems. Yearly all NYS schools are required to conduct an early dismissal drill as part of their Emergency Response Plan. Today, September 15, 2021 all students will be dismissing 15 minutes early. Middle School at 2:15 pm and Elementary School at 3:05 pm. READ MORE

    Over the weekend, the District learned that a member of the Middle School staff as well as a Middle School student tested positive for COVID-19 based on diagnostic tests. The individuals were not present in our schools during their contagious period, so contact tracing / identification of first contacts was not deemed necessary.   • Public Attendance at Board Meetings Begins Monday, June 14th

    I am very pleased to announce that GWLUFSD's Board of Education will return to holding their monthly Board business meetings in person and will allow the public to attend in person as well. Monday's meeting will take place in the MS Cafetorium at 7 pm. Individuals who attend in person must follow the current CoVid protocols. That said, the Board has heard from many community members that they have enjoyed being able to watch live from the comfort of their home. Therefore, the meetings will still be streamed live online.
