Ms. Jennifer Koch

Welcome,

I hope that you had a wonderful and rejuvenating summer! I am the Elementary School Psychologist. This is my sixth school year working in the Greenwood Lake School District. I can't wait to welcome our students back to Greenwood Lake Elementary School this fall!

I am originally from Warwick, N.Y. and was fortunate to have the opportunity to do my practicums and internship at local schools of the Hudson Valley in Warwick, Minisink, and Florida, N.Y. I began my career working as a leave replacement for the Downsville Central School District in the beautiful upstate town of Colchester, N.Y. Prior to this position, I worked as a full time school psychologist in Fort Defiance, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. I have worked with a variety of populations including a language immersion school.

I am part of the incredible Positive Behavior Interventions and Support team (PBIS) here at the Elementary School. Schools that implement school-wide systems of positive behavior support focus on taking a team-based system approach and teaching appropriate behavior to all students in the school. Four years ago, we formally launched this researched based program and it has been a thriving progressive system ever since. The PBIS team and I are very excited to advance our PBIS program this 20-21 school year.

We have implemented a positive acknowledment system for all students which has been recognized with not only schoolwide community celebrations, but also individualized and classroom recognition as well. We debued our school store three years ago now and it has been a great success! Our mentorship program is also in full swing.

We have a PBIS parent sub-committee that is highly involved and supportive of our team and program. We debued the PBIS pumpkin patch two years ago with an integration of our parent sub-committee and art program. Parent volunteers talked about positive messages alongside our Art Teacher, while painting pumpkins for a community pumpkin patch. If you are interested in joining our Parent PBIS sub-committee, please let us know.

Please take a look at my photo gallery link. The children in this district inspire me every day I get the opportunity to work with them.

Throughout the year, please feel free to contact me.  I'm looking forward to a great year ahead!

Warmly,
Jennifer Koch
