It is responsible for the evaluation, placement, and services for students with disabilities as defined by the Part 200 of the Commissioner's Regulations and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). This mandates a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. Preschool Services (Age 3 to Age 5) Preschool Services are provided to children ages 3 years to age 5 who meet the NYS guidelines as a Preschooler with a Disability. Parents concerned about their child's development should contact the Office of Special Education at the numbers above. New IEP Forms Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year our Individual Education Plans (IEP's) will have a new look as we start using the new NYS mandated form. This new format has been designed by NYS to be in compliance with IDEA Guidelines. Early Intervention Services (Birth to Age 3) Parents concerned with their child's development from birth to age 2 years, 6 months, should contact Early Intervention Services at the Orange County Department of Health. The contact information can be found in the "Related Link" below. Parents with concerns about a child age 2 years, 6 months should contact the Office of Special Education. Section 504 This office is also responsible for the the evaluation, coordination and development of Accommodation Plans under the Americans with Disabilities Act Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Student Services Student Services include the Instructional Support Team (IST), Academic Intervention Services (AIS), English as a Second Language (ELL), Homebound Instruction, Health, Social Work, Psychological, Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services.
